Shadows of Dakaron

The World of Dakaron – a unique fantasy setting that has everything from a creeping desert, a living forest, powerful beings struggling for control behind the scenes, and a variety of races and cultures trying to survive it all.

Skylark Halfling

Skylark halflings are winged halflings, a recent development in terms of the other races. They were not one of the servitor races, but rather were a byproduct of genetic experimenting by the avariel elves. They were originally a group of families loyal to the avariel who agreed to these experiments to try to emulate and keep up with their masters. The skylark halflings are the successful result of these experiments, which were then destroyed during the Grey Withdrawal. this was also the first time their existence was announced to the world. A few families agreed to stay behind in Tilver to serve as liasons with the grey elves, but this quickly proved to be a mistake as the grey elves rejected them as abominations.

Skylarks are cautious and tend to keep to themselves and hide from other outside sources. This is out of a natural fear and distrust of creatures larger than themselves, as they were not a violent natured race. They are buried deep within forests and caves and have a strong sense of family. They have a hard time developing new relations with other creatures, especially if they’re neither fey, elf, or avian. The ones who do leave the villages tend to be brave adventurers determined to prove the old ways are over.

Skylark halflings have bright and colorful physical features. Their skin ranges from warm ivory to bronzed, and some of the deep forest clans have porcelain skin. Hair color is always very light, going from bright yellows to completely white, with multicolored undertones. They almost always keep their hair long but bound in intricate braids. The more braids a skylark has, the higher ranking it is considered to be within its own clan. Skylarks have large, beautiful eyes that are almost always light, deep blues and brilliant greens.

Skylark halflings keep away from the big people and stay close to their allies and friends in Grankkan and Tilver. A few clans have migrated to Melchizzan for unfathomable reasons.
